Liverpool Residents Action is a grassroots organisation that aims to help and represent the interests of residents in the city with their housing needs.
We are a horizontal organisation, which means decisions are made collectively without any one individual holding more power than others, and that no one permanently holds any role within the organisation. LRA is run for and by members who work collectively to challenge the housing status quo. We are coming together as a community to support one another, to empower individuals and to develop strategy to improve residents’ long term housing needs in Liverpool.
Who are we
We are a grassroots residents organisation founded to help those in the city with their housing needs. We are tenants, homeowners, workers, carers and community members that have come together to improve housing for each other. We have no paid membership or paywall and aim to be as accessible as possible.
We work with other community and grassroots activist organisations within the city and operate within a strong network of existing action and power. Everything we do is horizontal and shared, building on existing knowledge, existing connection and the strengthening of that network within Merseyside.
The current political system doesn’t work and waiting on Government or charity to assist us isn’t good enough. We will organise together to take what we need.
Our Aims
- To develop strategy and tactics to improve residents long term housing needs in Merseyside
- To develop residents political knowledge in relation to power and policy in Merseyside. This encompasses democratising access to knowledge and resources, encouraging communities to create their own residents groups, working to highlight how peoples housing rights intersect with other freedoms.
- Develop a community to foster a culture of mutual aid, direct action, socialising and education.
- We fight for each other to have a dignified life
